Position Summary

The Lead Director, Mental Well-being Strategy is responsible for leading the development and execution on Aetna’s overall strategic plan, roadmap, and investment areas for its behavioral health and employee assistance businesses. This role reports to the strategy leader, but will have high visibility across the full mental well-being leadership team as a key strategic advisor. In addition, the role will support various strategic initiatives across the enterprise that involve mental well-being capabilities.

This role will be integral to the go forward strategic direction of Aetna’s mental well-being offerings and will work directly with leadership to drive innovation, growth, and transformation of our business, within the dynamic and rapidly evolving mental health landscape.

Key responsibilities include :

  • Development of multi-year strategic plans at various business / organizational levels, including overall mental well-being, Resources for Living, and functional area strategies
  • Strategy execution oversight, risk mitigation, and stakeholder alignment
  • Evaluation of new strategic opportunities; Examples may include new product, partnership, channel, and / or other avenues to drive growth
  • Maintain pulse on competitive and market landscape; articulate product and service opportunities, gaps, and unmet needs
  • Maintain strong understanding of innovation and emerging solutions across the mental well-being industry; Build a strong POV on overall industry evolution to inform strategic planning efforts
  • Engage and support other teams in developing their strategy / solving complex strategic questions as needed, across network / provider partnership strategy, clinical strategy, and product strategy

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated strategic planning facilitation / development capabilities
  • Mastery of problem solving and strategic frameworks to inform business decision making
  • Adept at developing analysis, presentations, and support material to successfully implement strategy or change initiatives
  • Experience managing multiple, cross-functional, complex initiatives and / or planning across executive level stakeholders
  • Experience working in the health plan and / or health care industry
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to executive stakeholders across modalities (i.e., email / briefs, presentations, meeting management)
  • 5+ years of experience and technical / functional expertise in one or more of the following areas : management consulting, strategic planning, business performance
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of work experience in management consulting, strategic planning, business performance
  • Ideal candidate will demonstrate strong business acumen and understanding of core competencies across a number of functional areas, including finance, operations, sales, and marketing
  • Ideal candidate can serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner across leadership and peer groups
  • Prior work experience in mental health
  • Education

    Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Masters of Business Administration a plus

    Pay Range

    The typical pay range for this role is :

    $100,000.00 - $231,540.00

    This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
