GENERAL SUMMARY:

The role involves directing activities of all the stores in the assigned area of operation which includes taking complete responsibility for profit and loss. You will be required to operate within the company’s policies and aims to achieve divisional and regional goals.

DUTIES and ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

This position involves leading store teams by facilitating:
  • Adherence to Dollar General’s mission and values to build a conducive company culture.
  • Fair implementation of human resource policies and practices.
  • Provision of top-notch customer service to ensure fun and friendly stores.
  • Area annual sales growth through quality orders and efficient processing to meet or exceed company targets.
  • Superior inventory presentation and management by effectively utilizing all tools across every store and market.
  • Execution of company objectives through effective planning.
  • Optimization of performance and productivity via sensible store scheduling.
  • Enhancement of human capital through proactive recruitment, selection, and employee and customer education.
  • Protection of company assets via loss prevention and efficient expense management.
  • Research and development of new business opportunities within the operational area. This might include improvements in distribution flow, merchandising display efforts, store growth and real estate site selection, recruitment strategies, training and development priorities, employee relations, customer service, system implementations, etc.
  • Clear and consistent communication of divisional and regional priorities to store teams.

WORK EXPERIENCE and/or EDUCATION:

  • Four or more years of retail management experience with progressively more responsibility and multi-unit operations in retail, grocery, or convenience store operations with full P&L responsibility.
  • Bachelor’s degree is favored.
  • Experience in ‘Big-box’ retail management and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be taken into consideration.
