Role Overview
As a Store Leader, your leadership ensures the safety of both people and pets, enhances customer experience, implements operational strategies, achieves financial targets, and manages all human resources functions. You embody exemplary leadership by promoting our culture, targeting outcomes, fostering excellent customer service, and efficiently managing daily store tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will vary according to store needs, including:
Team Leadership:
- Make employment decisions such as recruiting, interviewing, hiring, coaching, and, when necessary, terminating.
- Foster an open-door environment by engaging with and listening to team members, utilizing feedback tools effectively.
- Develop and distribute schedules for the entire store with input from other leaders.
- Enhance associate experiences and promote career development, involving evaluations, recognition, and succession planning.
- Delegate responsibilities effectively, empowering team members to succeed and encouraging goal ownership.
- Ensure effective communication of information and align team priorities with goals.
- Address and resolve team member grievances and complaints.
- Celebrate and acknowledge team achievements to boost engagement.
- Ensure timely delivery of performance reviews.
Store Environment:
- Lead experiences for team members and customers, ensuring pet safety and well-being.
- Oversee customer interactions via phone, in-person, or online, addressing general and escalated concerns.
- Create a welcoming and positive store atmosphere for both customers and associates.
- Continuously seek and implement operational improvements.
- Collaborate with leadership to support in-store and community events, including partnerships with local adoption groups.
- Maintain store standards and promote compliance with policies, procedures, and ethics codes.
- Conduct monthly evaluations to verify adherence to policies and procedures.
- Prioritize safety for staff, pets, and customers.
- Monitor inventory to ensure stock availability.
- Share business and financial goals with store leaders.
- Use store cameras to review safety practices, associate behaviors, and risk assessment, providing coaching as needed.
- Take swift action for sick or injured pets, including necessary veterinary transportation.
- Share responsibilities for opening and closing procedures aligned with brand promises.
Business Operations:
- Achieve profitability goals and execute strategies set by corporate leadership.
- Analyze reports to identify causes and communicate business results, creating improvement plans as necessary.
- Identify growth opportunities and hold team members accountable for achieving sales and shrink targets.
- Manage expenditures responsibly, including labor and supplies.
- Work with corporate partners to address store-related needs.
- Develop store schedules and manage payroll within budgetary constraints.
- Complete and manage reporting and paperwork as required.
- Address store needs through errands and other support tasks.
Qualifications
- 4-6 years in retail leadership or a customer-focused environment.
- Full-time availability, with the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain composure under pressure.
- Solid organizational skills and attention to detail.
Supervisor Responsibilities
- Supervise leaders and associates, adhering to established policies and procedures.
Physical and Work Environment
- Be prepared to stand, walk, climb ladders, and use hands for various tasks.
- Regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally team lift or move over 100 pounds.
- Occasionally exposed to mechanical parts, wet conditions, and pet hair, with varying noise levels.
